Counting down to Murphy time!
The time will pass quickly, even though we are all wishing the snow would melt and the temperatures would rise here. Chet has a new pontoon boat he has been converting from a cruiser to a fishing boat. It's nice that it fits into his shop, so he can work in comfort ;). Anyway, I was chatting with Patrick and discussing the sleeping arrangements. Even though my two spare bedrooms and the motor home are already spoken for, we have a lovely acre anyone is welcome to tent it if you wish. If you pitch camp down by the creek, you can feel like your in the woods! If you need information on the closest inns again, we can sure post that. If you have any questions, or ideas for food and drink, or things to do, places to go, people to see, feel free to post, txt, email, snail mail or carrier pigeon! We would love to hear from anyone out there! I'm starting to feel lonely here. We can't wait to see you all!

Sorry about that...
This blog template has some outdated code in it. I was hoping for an easy fix, but it would take a major rework, so it is what it is. Don't let that stop you from reading and posting! Eilena and I are getting pretty excited about seeing you all again, and those that missed the last one! Let's fire up this puppy and get some more photos and stories going! Love you guys!

Yes, it's that time again!
I will be meeting with Eilena next Friday, June 15th, to begin plans for our second bi-annual Murphy Family Reunion to be held sometime in June 2013! If any of you have any ideas or thoughts on dates, please email one of us. I'm so excited to see you all again and hopefully some of you who missed us the first time!

Making Ketchup...
Ok, I'll pass on one memory. One memory of Uncle Darrell and Grandma, making ketchup. What are you doing? We're making ketchup. Wow I never thought of that before----m.
The Murphys Down Under...
another great story as told by Mikey in FaceBook:
OK so tonight we move into a time frame where the Las Vegas family will be able to relate just a little bit more. Mikey used to like to wear his life preserver by sticking his legs through the arm holes. No one showed me this I just started doing it. Works great, like sitting in a floating chair in the lake. So there we were out at the lake, Mikey sitting in his life preserver drifting around and drinking beer. The funny part was that when I needed a fresh beer I was so far away from the boat. Uncle Marion had two dogs out there with us , A golden Lab, and a Chesapeake Retriever. They really thought a lot of me because of all the times I would groom the at Marion's' house. To make a short story longer. Anyway as I drifted out into the lake drinking my beer, soon to realize I needed another, the fastest way back to the boat was to start slapping the water. Marion's two dogs would swim up on either side of me so I could grab a hold of them so they could tow me back to the boat where Marion would oblige me with another beer. Marion ask me when I taught them to do that? I didn't Marion some dogs are smarter than their owners.--------------------m.

OK! Cookie,
this is one of the last Grandpa stories I have:
So Grandpa, what was it like when you first got to Idaho?
Well Mike, we moved into this house, the only thing I really remember about it was Ma singing. She was singing "Can I sleep in your barn tonight mister?". He told me it was funny because there was no roof on the house when they moved in.------I love you deeply----m.

Conversations with Grandpa (Mike)
So one day I was talking to Grandpa.
Grandpa I don't understand something.
What's that Mike?
Grandpa evrybody in my family plays golf; bowls; are good mechanics; know everything I don't know.
Why is it that I love the horses when no one else seems to?
Grandpa- "Well Mike that is probably my fault".
Hows that Grandpa?
Well Mike, back in the day I used to be a pickup man. After the days work we would circle the cars with our lights on as it got dark.
the boys would gamble their days earnings on various sports. Bullwhip competitions; boxing, spitting; BS-ing; telling various and assorted lies. You understand don't you?
Sort of Grandpa, but where does that answer the question about me, and why am I the horseman?
Well Mike, you probably got that from me.
You see back at that time they had wild horses, when we circled the trucks the boys had to ride the horses to a stand still. Many times the horses would stop bucking then take off running.
In those days the pickup man's job was to help the buckeroo bring the horse back.
You were not expected to bring the buckeroo back, if he was still mounted, good for him.
Yes Grandpa, now I understand! Thanks.
